What AI coach can read my own notes?
Three ways exist. The notes live inside the app, as in Rosebud and Reflection. You upload documents, as in NotebookLM. Or the AI reads the plain notes folder on your own computer, as in Mover OS, which coaches your day from them source. Mover is $49 once and uploads none of your notes.

What are the options?
- Rosebud is an AI journal. It says it remembers your entries and helps you make sense of them, sends weekly reports on your patterns, and encrypts your data in transit and at rest. The paid plan is $12.99 a month, or $8.99 a month billed yearly rosebud.app. See Rosebud vs Mover OS.
- Reflection is a journaling app with an AI Coach that asks a follow-up question from the entry you just wrote, and an Ask Your Journal feature that answers questions about your past entries. Its MCP lets you read and write your journal through Claude, ChatGPT and more. You can import from Day One or CSV. Premium is $8 a month, or $5.75 a month billed annually, with a 7-day trial reflection.app reflection.app/pricing. See Reflection vs Mover OS.
- NotebookLM from Google grounds its answers in the documents you upload and cites them, which Google says reduces the risk of made-up answers blog.google. It answers questions about your sources. It is not set up to coach your day.
- Claude Code with imports. If you use Claude Code, a CLAUDE.md file can import other files with @path/to/import, so your notes load alongside it Claude Code docs. This is a do-it-yourself route.
- Mover OS reads the notes in a folder on your computer and plans and reviews your day from them source.
Where do your notes live?
This is the question that separates them. Rosebud and Reflection keep your journal in their own app, so your notes live there. NotebookLM reads what you upload. Mover reads files that already sit on your disk, so your notes stay yours: its home page says Mover uploads none of them and that every file is yours if you leave source. The AI you run Mover in still reads the files it needs during a session, so check that company's data terms.
A worked example: Sam and Pawpath
Sam is an invented person. Sam is building Pawpath, a booking app for dog walkers. Everything below comes from an example Mover vault used for demos, so no real person's notes are shown. The goal lines and the tasks are made up. The two lines marked as Mover's wording are the app's own, with Sam's task filled in.
Sam keeps two kinds of notes. One is a dated list of what Sam said, and the other is a plain record of what happened the same week. Here are four pairs from the example vault.
- Said: Run at 6. Did: Slept through it.
- Said: Email 5 owners. Did: Redesigned the logo.
- Said: Record the demo. Did: Bought a tripod.
- Said: Reply to the waitlist. Did: Read about replying.
## Said (dated)
- Mon 1 Sep: "Starting Monday I run at 6."
- Mon 8 Sep: "Starting Monday I run at 6."
- Mon 15 Sep: "Starting Monday I run at 6."
- Mon 22 Sep: "Starting Monday I run at 6."
A coach that only sees today's chat cannot see this pattern. A coach that reads the notes can set the four Mondays beside the week. Two of Mover's workflows use that. The night review checks the day against the targets in the strategy file. And when Sam writes in the morning journal, the review reads it back against what the log shows, and says what the gap was.
The close then asks Sam to score the day first, so the read is of Sam's own view against the record.
How do you think Wednesday went?
Sam: 8, the logo went out
You scored yourself over the record.

When Mover is the wrong pick
Pick a journal app if…
You want a place to write about how you feel and have an AI answer in kind. Rosebud and Reflection are made for that, and Reflection has apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and web. Mover coaches your plan and your day, from notes you already keep. It needs one of Claude, Codex or Gemini on a plan you already pay for source.

Common questions
Does Mover send my notes to a server?
Mover says it uploads none of them: your goals, projects and days stay in a folder on your computer source. The AI you run it in (Claude, Codex or Gemini) reads files in your session under its own terms.
Can I connect Reflection to Claude?
Yes. Reflection says its MCP lets you read and write your journal through Claude, ChatGPT and more reflection.app.
Can I use my old notes?
If they sit in an Obsidian vault, Mover's /migrate scans the folders and copies files into its structure without deleting the originals npm.
Mover OS: $49 once. It reads the notes already on your computer and coaches your day from them.
