Google Gemini Spark price: AI Ultra at $100 a month
Google Gemini Spark is offered with Google AI Ultra at $100 a month, a figure The Wall Street Journal gave, and with Google AI Pro, whose price the sources do not give. Quartz on Yahoo Tech Google blog, 30 July 2026
How much does Gemini Spark cost?
$100 a month is the one price the sources attach to a plan that includes Spark. On 5 October 2026 the Quartz report on Yahoo Tech, updated 19 May 2026, gives Google AI Ultra's price as $100 a month, a figure it attributes to The Wall Street Journal. Quartz on Yahoo Tech
Spark has no price line of its own on either page. Google's post of 30 July 2026 names Google AI Pro subscribers as the group receiving access and gives no Pro price. Google blog, 30 July 2026 The table below puts each route into Spark beside what its source says.
| Route in | What the source says | Price given |
|---|---|---|
| Google AI Ultra | Wider beta for U.S. subscribers planned for the week after the article. Quartz on Yahoo Tech | $100 a month, per The Wall Street Journal. Quartz on Yahoo Tech |
| Google AI Pro | Access rolling out in over 160 additional countries from 30 July 2026. Google blog, 30 July 2026 | The post does not give a Pro price. Google blog, 30 July 2026 |
| Trusted testers | Spark rolling out to them at the time of the May article. Quartz on Yahoo Tech | The article gives no price for this stage. Quartz on Yahoo Tech |
Outside the US, the picture is thinner still. Quartz describes the Ultra beta for U.S. subscribers only, and the Google post does not say what Pro costs in any of the 160 countries it mentions. Quartz on Yahoo Tech Google blog, 30 July 2026
Is Gemini Spark on Google AI Pro?
30 July 2026 is the date Google gives for opening Spark to Google AI Pro subscribers in over 160 additional countries, with access starting that day. Google blog, 30 July 2026 The post does not list the countries or say which ones already had access.
Chrome auto browse arrived in the same post. With permission, Spark can use a person's logged-in accounts and saved passwords for web errands, such as scheduling viewings for saved apartments or researching flight options and starting the booking process. Google says it guards against prompt injection and hands the task back to the user for sensitive actions such as payments. Google blog, 30 July 2026
U.S. users get auto browse first, with other regions planned for later. The post does not say which plan includes it. Google blog, 30 July 2026
What does Gemini Spark do?
Gemini Spark is a personal AI agent that works continuously on tasks for a user, according to Quartz's report on the I/O 2026 launch. Gemini 3.5 Flash runs underneath it, and Google describes that model as optimized for agentic and coding tasks. Google also says 3.5 Flash is now the default model for the Gemini app and for AI Mode in Search globally. Quartz on Yahoo Tech
Gmail, Google Docs and the wider Google Workspace suite are reachable by Spark without additional setup. A person reaches the agent by messaging a designated Gmail address, and Spark uses Chrome for web-based tasks. MCP connections to third-party services are part of the feature set, and Google has signalled that more integrations are on the roadmap. Quartz on Yahoo Tech
Sundar Pichai called it "your personal AI agent that helps you navigate your digital life, taking action on your behalf and under your direction." Google Labs VP Josh Woodward gave a small business example, saying such users "can watch over their inbox, so they never miss a question from a customer." Android Halo, a new Android feature, lets mobile users keep tabs on what Spark is doing, according to TechCrunch as cited by Quartz. Quartz on Yahoo Tech
Does Spark need my computer on?
Sundar Pichai told reporters ahead of the event that Spark runs on dedicated virtual machines on Google Cloud, and that "you don't need to keep your laptop open to make sure it's running." Quartz adds that the agent runs on Google Cloud infrastructure, so users do not need to keep a device active for it to function. Quartz on Yahoo Tech Neither source ties that hosting to a separate charge, which leaves the plan tiers as the only price route the sources describe. Google blog, 30 July 2026
When did Gemini Spark launch?
Google announced Gemini Spark at its I/O developer conference on a Tuesday, and the Quartz article on the announcement was updated 19 May 2026. Trusted testers received it first, with a wider beta for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. planned for the following week. Quartz on Yahoo Tech
30 July 2026 brought the next step, Pro access in over 160 more countries. Google blog, 30 July 2026 Anthropic and OpenAI had each released personal agent products by then, according to TechCrunch as cited by Quartz, which adds that Google's own Workspace tools give Spark ready-made access to data sources that rival agents must connect separately. Quartz on Yahoo Tech
What is still unclear on price?
Several gaps remain. The $100 figure is the Journal's, and Google's own post of 30 July 2026 does not repeat it. Google blog, 30 July 2026 Pro pricing, regional prices and any usage limits on Spark appear in neither source. Quartz on Yahoo Tech Google blog, 30 July 2026 Any price change after 30 July 2026 would not show in them either.
For a side-by-side view of other personal agents, the comparison of personal AI agents is the next read, and the OpenAI dots price page covers one rival's cost and UK access.
